Can i take a cold shower with a fever?

I've had a high fever since last night and I'm feeling really hot and uncomfortable. My grandmother always said a cold shower helps cool you down during fever. Is it safe to take a cold shower when you have a fever, or is it risky?

I used to panic and think cold water would bring the fever down fast, but my doctor told me it actually raises internal temp because of shivering. A simple sponge bath with normal water is totally safe and much better.

Arey, please don't do that unless you want to start shivering like a leaf! Cold water will just shock your body. Use lukewarm water instead, your body will thank you.

Never take a freezing cold shower during high fever. It constricts your blood vessels and traps the heat inside. Just use normal tap water or slightly warm water for a quick sponge wipe.

Don't go for a cold shower, okay? It will make your body shiver and actually increase your fever. Just rest in bed, keep hydrated, and do a simple damp cloth wipe on your forehead.

My mother always says to avoid any head bath during fever. The doctor also advised that a gentle sponge bath with lukewarm water is the safest way to cool down without catching a chill.
