Can i sleep on my side after c section?

I had a C-section delivery a few days ago, and sleeping on my back is becoming very uncomfortable and painful. I usually prefer sleeping on my side. Is it safe for me to sleep on my side now, or do I need to wait longer with the stitches?

I totally get it, finding a comfortable position to sleep after a C-section is so hard! Sleeping on your side is actually quite comfortable once you support your belly with a firm pillow.

My wife used a special pregnancy C-pillow even post-delivery to sleep on her side. Keeping her resting heart rate and sleep quality high was super important for recovery, and side sleeping with support really helped.

I was terrified that side sleeping would pull my stitches, but my doctor reassured me it was fine. Just roll over very gently and use a pillow to support your tummy, it is actually much easier than getting up from your back.

Oh it's totally fine, honestly sleeping on my back was giving me horrible backaches after my C-section. Just hug a pillow tightly to your tummy when you turn, it helps a lot.

My wife asked the head nurse at Apollo about this before discharge. They told us that side sleeping is fine as long as there is no pain at the incision, but to ask the doctor during the follow-up if pain persists.

With my PCOS history, my recovery was a bit slow, so I was very cautious. I started sleeping on my side around the second week post-C-section once the initial soreness went down a bit.

My mother was worried it might strain the wound, but the doctor assured us side sleeping is perfectly fine. It actually helps in passing gas easily which is common after C-section.
