Can i go to the er for wisdom tooth pain?

My wisdom tooth has been causing me terrible pain since last night, and it's even affecting my jaw. My local dental clinic is closed. Should I go to the emergency room for this kind of intense wisdom tooth pain?

Writing this at 3 AM because my own teeth won't let me sleep. Going to the ER for this is a bit much because they'll just make you wait forever and give you basic painkillers. Better to take a crocin and pray for the morning so you can actually see a real dentist who can pull this torture device out.

Please don't ignore it like I did. I kept avoiding the dentist and ended up with a massive jaw infection that required surgery. If your cheek is swollen, you have fever, or you can't open your mouth, go to the ER immediately. Otherwise, get an appointment with a dentist tomorrow without fail.

Beta, wisdom tooth pain can be very troublesome, we know. If the pain is too much to bear, you can go to the nearby hospital, they will help you calm down the pain for the night. But tomorrow you must go to a big dentist clinic in town to get it checked properly.

My dentist explained that wisdom teeth can get impacted and cause severe localized infections called pericoronitis. The ER can prescribe antibiotics if there's an active spreading infection, but they can't perform extractions. If you are having trouble swallowing or breathing, go to the ER right away; otherwise, dental clinics are your best bet.

When my wisdom tooth was acting up, I couldn't even drink my protein shakes properly. Going to the ER is mostly a waste of time unless your face is visibly swollen or you're running a fever. Try sticking to cold, soft foods today, avoid heavy workouts that increase blood flow to the head, and see a dentist ASAP.
