Can i give my toddler ice cream for fever?

My toddler has a slight fever today, and he's refusing to eat anything. My husband suggested giving him some ice cream to soothe him and get some calories in. Is it alright to give my toddler ice cream when he has a fever?

Actually, it's fine to give a little bit if they have a sore throat, yaar. But don't give too much sugar during a fever because it can make them feel more sluggish. Stick to simple cold water or juice sips instead.

Dekho, fever mein ice cream dena theek nahi hai. It can make their throat worse if they have a cold too. Give them warm soup or simple dal ka pani instead, it will help them recover faster.

Well, your toddler will definitely love you for this! But honestly, while the cold feels good on a sore throat, dairy can sometimes make phlegm feel thicker. Maybe stick to frozen fruit popsicles instead—same cold vibes, less dairy drama.

According to our pediatrician, cold foods like ice cream or yogurt do not cause or worsen a fever. They can actually soothe a sore throat and provide quick energy when a child refuses solids. Just ensure it is a plain flavor without too many nuts or heavy syrup.

Fever means the body needs rest and clean hydration. Instead of sugary ice cream, try giving coconut water or fresh apple puree. If the fever is high or doesn't go down with medicine, please consult your doctor immediately.

My niece just recovered from a bad viral fever last week. She refused to eat anything, so our doctor actually said a scoop of vanilla ice cream is fine just to get some calories in her. But don't overdo it, especially if they have a cough.
