Can i eat chips if i have kidney stones?

I've been diagnosed with kidney stones, and the doctor advised me to be careful with my diet. I sometimes crave chips as a snack. Are chips generally safe to eat if I have kidney stones, or should I avoid them completely?

At our age, even looking at a packet of chips feels like it will create a new kidney stone! Honestly, they are loaded with sodium which is terrible for stones. Better to eat cucumbers and pretend they are crunchy chips.

Stones are very painful, and salty chips will only make it worse by dehydrating you. Whenever I feel a kidney ache, I drink barley water (jau ka paani) and coconut water throughout the day. Try swapping chips with roasted makhana with zero salt.

I was just diagnosed with a small stone yesterday and I'm quite confused. Are homemade baked chips also bad, or is it only the store-bought salted ones? If anyone knows, please guide me.

When your metabolism is already affected by thyroid issues, processing high-sodium junk like chips becomes even harder on your kidneys. Make sure you get your regular thyroid and kidney function tests done, and stay away from highly processed snacks.

It is best to avoid potato chips because the high salt makes your kidneys excrete more calcium, leading to more stones. Try drinking lots of water and eating fresh fruits instead to stay safe.

Chips are a big risk factor because of the high salt content, which raises both blood pressure and urinary calcium. I had to strictly cut down on salty snacks and get regular urine tests done to keep both my BP and kidney stones under control.

Potato chips contain a very high amount of sodium and sometimes oxalates, which can worsen certain types of kidney stones. Please consult your urologist to get a proper diet chart based on the type of stone you have.

Unless you want those kidney stones to throw a party and multiply, step away from the potato chips! The salt in them is like fuel for stones. Stick to water and simple snacks, your kidneys will thank you.
