Can i drink lemon juice with kidney stones?

My father recently found out he has kidney stones, and the doctor advised him to drink plenty of fluids. Someone told him that lemon juice helps dissolve stones. Is it true, can he drink lemon juice with kidney stones, or should he avoid it? He's a bit confused.

Fresh lemon water contains citrate, which can scientifically help prevent certain calcium-based kidney stones. However, the exact treatment depends on the type of stone you have. It is highly recommended to get an ultrasound and consult your urologist first.

Yes, lemon juice is actually very helpful because the citrate helps break down some types of stones. Don't buy those expensive packaged juices, just squeeze fresh lemon in a big jug of water daily. It is cheap and works wonders.

Kidney stone pain is absolutely terrifying, I still get scared thinking about my last episode. Lemon water really helped me flush things out. Please drink plenty of fluids and stay strong, this painful phase will pass soon.

My son had a small kidney stone last year and we were so worried. His doctor advised us to give him plenty of fresh lemon water without adding too much sugar. Along with lots of plain water, it helped him pass the stone naturally.

Drinking fresh lemon water is great for hydration when you have stones. But along with fluids, make sure you are moving around and walking if your doctor permits. Staying active helps in passing the stone faster.
