Can i breastfeed while sick with fever?

I've come down with a fever and body aches today, and I'm feeling quite unwell. My baby is only 4 months old and exclusively breastfed. I'm worried about passing something on. Is it safe for me to breastfeed my baby while I'm sick with a fever?

My wife had a high fever last month and she kept feeding our baby. The doctor said the breast milk actually contains antibodies that protect the baby from catching the same sickness.

It is usually safe, but please check your temperature and consult a doctor first. You need to make sure the fever isn't from something contagious that requires specific medication.

I panicked so much when I got viral fever and stopped feeding for a day. But my pediatrician reassured me that it is completely safe and actually good for the baby's immunity. Just wear a mask while feeding.

Yes, you can feed. Just make sure whatever paracetamol or medicine you are taking for the fever is approved by your doctor for lactating mothers. Keep drinking lots of water.

It is safe to feed, but if the fever doesn't go down in two days, go for a basic blood test before buying expensive antibiotics. A simple consulting fee with your local GP is better than self-medicating.
