Can hpv cause throat cancer?

An article about HPV causing different types of cancer recently caught my eye, and it mentioned throat cancer. My father's friend had throat cancer, and it was quite severe. I'm worried now, can HPV actually lead to cancer in the throat area?

Yes, certain high-risk strains of HPV can cause throat cancer. If you have a persistent sore throat or difficulty swallowing, please get it checked by an ENT specialist immediately.

Finding out about the link between HPV and throat cancer sent me into a spiral of worry for weeks. It is incredibly stressful to think about, but talking openly to a doctor can help ease that heavy anxiety.

It can indeed cause throat cancer, and ignoring early symptoms can make things worse. I had a severe throat issue that I delayed treating, so I highly recommend consulting a doctor early if you are concerned.

Yes, it is a known risk factor, especially with oral HPV transmission. The good news is that the HPV vaccine can help prevent these infections, so definitely discuss that with your doctor.

There is a clear medical link, particularly with HPV-16. I usually track my regular health markers and vaccine schedules on my health app to ensure I am up to date on preventive care.
