Can honey give you diabetes?

My family has a history of diabetes, and I'm trying to be careful with my diet. I use honey instead of sugar, but I've heard some people say even honey can cause diabetes. Is this true, or is it just a myth?

Honey alone won't magically give you diabetes unless your overall lifestyle is bad. But remember, honey is still 80% sugar. If you eat it in large quantities every day while sitting on the couch, it will definitely contribute to weight gain and insulin resistance.

I always advise my patients to ask their diabetologist directly before replacing white sugar with honey. Honey has a high glycemic load and can impact your pancreatic health if consumed excessively. Get your fasting glucose checked and consult a specialist.

Hamare yahan toh log sochte hain ki shehed bohot faydemand hai aur isse sugar nahi hoti. Par aisa nahi hai, shehed bhi meetha hota hai aur zyada khane se bimari badh sakti hai. Thoda sa khana theek hai, par zyada mat khao.

I made the mistake of consuming raw honey daily thinking it would cure my health issues, and my blood sugar levels crept up into the prediabetic range. My doctor told me honey is metabolically very similar to sugar. Keep it to a bare minimum and monitor your blood panels regularly.

As someone managing high blood pressure, I know how closely linked heart health and diabetes are. Honey is high in calories and simple sugars, which can lead to metabolic issues if abused. Focus on regular exercise and get your HbA1c checked annually.

If honey gave you diabetes directly, bears would be the primary customers for insulin pumps! It's all about quantity. If you're putting a tiny drop in your green tea, chill out; you're not going to get diabetes from that.
