Can high fever cause nausea?

Whenever I get a high fever, I almost always feel very nauseous and sick to my stomach. Is this a common symptom, or can a high fever directly cause nausea? Just trying to understand my body better.

Yes, whenever I get a high fever, I feel extremely nauseous and can't even look at food. Does this happen to everyone else too, or should I be worried about something else?

Yes, fever puts a lot of stress on your metabolic system, which often triggers nausea. Keep yourself hydrated with electrolytes or coconut water, and avoid heavy foods. See a doctor if you can't keep liquids down.

Yes, nausea is very common with a high fever. Since our bodies are already dealing with internal stress, everything feels off. I would suggest asking a doctor for a safe anti-emetic rather than self-medicating.

My kids always feel nauseous and refuse to eat anything when they run a high fever. I give them small sips of ginger water or ORS. If the nausea doesn't stop or they start vomiting, please consult your pediatrician.

Yes, high fever and nausea go hand-in-hand, making you feel absolutely miserable. It's just your body's way of saying 'stay in bed and do nothing.' Just rest up and get a doctor's advice.

Yes, fever heat in the stomach often causes nausea. You can suck on a piece of ginger or drink mint water to soothe it, but please consult a doctor if the fever remains high.
