Can high fever cause hives?

My son had a high fever a few days ago, and then he developed red, itchy bumps all over his body, like hives. Could the high fever itself have caused these hives to appear? I'm wondering if they're connected.

Ah, the classic double trouble! Yes, high fever can trigger hives, basically your immune system going into overdrive. Don't worry, it looks scary but usually fades away once the fever drops. Just don't scratch!

Yes, it can. My body reacts to fever by breaking out in red itchy hives as if a fever wasn't enough punishment already. It's usually a viral reaction, but please check with a doctor for an antihistamine.

Yes, high body temperature can trigger heat hives. When I had this, I couldn't even enjoy my favorite spicy food because it made the itching worse! Stick to bland food and see a doctor.

I totally get it, having itchy hives on top of a burning fever is absolutely miserable. It can happen as an allergic response or viral rash. Please consult a doctor immediately so they can give you some relief.

Dude, yes, viral fevers can totally trigger hives. I got these crazy red patches during dengue fever last year. Just take paracetamol as prescribed and show a doctor if the itching gets too bad.
