Can high calcium cause kidney stones?

I recently had a painful kidney stone, and the doctor mentioned I should keep an eye on my calcium intake. Does having too much calcium in my system directly contribute to forming kidney stones? I want to avoid this problem again.

Honestly, please do not ignore this. I kept dragging my feet on mild back pain and high calcium levels last year, and ended up in the emergency room with a terrible stone. Get a proper blood and urine test done immediately before it gets worse.

Yes, excess calcium definitely increases the risk of stones. Managing my diet for sugar has taught me that everything is linked. Best to consult your doctor about balancing your nutrition, especially if you take external supplements.

Oh god, even I get so stressed reading about these things. Yes, high calcium in urine can form calcium oxalate stones. Keep drinking lots of water and please talk to a doc to calm your mind. Don't worry, it's very manageable if caught early!

I deal with hormone issues, and they always tell us how chemical levels in the body are so delicate. High calcium is a known cause for stones. I would suggest asking a doctor instead of trying home hacks, as we can't tell what the exact trigger is.

Yes, it absolutely can. Excess calcium in your bloodstream gets filtered by the kidneys, and if there's too much of it, it crystallizes. Get a serum calcium and PTH test done. Simple as that, no need to overcomplicate.

Everything in our body needs balance, and when that balance shifts, these issues occur. Stay positive, drink warm water, and let a good doctor guide you. God will keep you healthy, just take the right medical steps.

Speaking from personal experience, yes, it causes stones. If you are taking calcium and Vitamin D supplements without checking your blood levels, stop them and talk to a doctor. Also, cut down on table salt and drink at least 3 liters of water daily.

My grandmother always said to drink barley water to clear out any small stones, which is good. But since you specifically mention high calcium, it is best to check with a specialist. It could be due to your diet or some underlying issue they need to test.
