Can herniated discs cause abdominal pain?

I've been dealing with a herniated disc in my lower back for a while, causing a lot of discomfort. Lately, I've also had persistent abdominal pain. Is it possible that a herniated disc can cause pain in the stomach area too?

Yes, a herniated disc in the thoracic area can cause referred pain that travels to the abdomen, though it is quite rare. Don't guess and assume it's just a back issue, though. Get a proper MRI and consult a spine specialist to get an accurate diagnosis.

I was actually researching back issues recently and found that sometimes a herniated disc in the thoracic or upper lumbar region can mimic abdominal pain because of shared nerve pathways. It's really fascinating but also confusing. Have you checked with a doctor to see if your back is causing it?

Oh my god, having both back pain and abdominal pain must be so scary, I would be panicking too! It is actually possible for herniated discs to cause referred pain in the stomach area, but it could also be a digestive issue. Please don't stress, but do see a doctor soon to be safe.

Honestly, trying to sleep with back pain and stomach aches is a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone. It is technically possible for nerve pain to radiate to the stomach, but please don't lie awake overthinking it. Just book an appointment with a doctor and get some actual rest.

Oh, that sounds so uncomfortable! 😮 While it's not very common, nerves from your spine do travel around to the front, which can sometimes feel like tummy pain. Definitely get a quick checkup with your doctor to sort it out! Stay positive! ✨

Yes, my dear, a thoracic herniated disc can sometimes cause pain that feels like it is in the abdomen due to the way the nerves run. However, since abdominal pain can have many different causes, it is very important to get a proper examination from a doctor. Take care of yourself.
