I am so anxious about breastfeeding my newborn because I have Hepatitis B. My doctor said breast milk itself is safe, but I keep worrying about micro-cuts on my nipples. Did anyone else feel this constant fear while nursing?
Hey, from what I studied in my biology class, Hepatitis B isn't transmitted through breast milk. The main thing is that the baby gets vaccinated right after birth, which totally protects them anyway.
Breast milk itself doesn't carry the virus, so you can nurse. If you have nipple cracks, you can apply some natural virgin coconut oil to heal them, but please see your doctor immediately to ensure the baby is fully protected with the vaccine.
It is not passed through breast milk, but please don't take any risks or make assumptions. I ignored my health symptoms once and regretted it deeply. Go to your gynecologist and pediatrician to make sure the baby gets the birth vaccine on time.

Generally, it is not transmitted through breast milk, but if there is bleeding from cracked nipples, blood contact can transmit it. Having faced severe liver complications myself, I strongly advise consulting your doctor to monitor your viral load and get proper advice.
