Breastfeeding is very important for the baby's immunity. Hep B is not transmitted through the breast milk itself, but if the mother has cracked or bleeding nipples, the baby could be exposed to infected blood. Keep skin soft with pure coconut oil.

My wife has Hep B and we were very stressed about breastfeeding our newborn. Our doctor gave the baby the Hep B shot right at birth, and said breastfeeding is 100% safe as long as there are no bleeding cuts.

Dealing with hormonal issues makes me extra cautious about health. From what I have read, it is safe to breastfeed, but checking with a lactation consultant or pediatrician to monitor nipple health is a very good idea.

I looked this up for my sister recently! Breast milk itself doesn't carry the virus. Just make sure the baby is vaccinated on schedule from day one, and there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Current guidelines state that Hepatitis B is not transmitted through breast milk. However, it is vital that the newborn receives the Hepatitis B vaccine and immune globulin within 12 hours of birth. Always follow your pediatrician's specific advice.
