Can hepatitis b be passed through saliva?

My friend recently got diagnosed with Hepatitis B and I'm really worried. We share food sometimes, and I'm wondering if just talking or laughing with her could transmit it. Can Hepatitis B be passed through saliva?

Don't panic! Sharing a cup of chai or a joke won't pass it on. Saliva has very little of the virus, so normal social contact is completely safe.

The virus is technically present in saliva, but casual kissing, coughing, or sharing utensils is not how it typically transmits. Blood-to-blood contact or sexual contact are the main routes. Get vaccinated to be completely worry-free!

In our family, one member has Hep B and we have shared meals and lived together for years without anyone else catching it. We just don't share personal grooming items.

No, it doesn't pass like a cold through saliva. Just like managing my blood sugar, managing infectious risk is about knowing the actual facts instead of stressing unnecessarily.

My teenager was so scared of catching it from friends at school. I had to explain that everyday sharing of food or drinks doesn't transmit it. Just avoid sharing toothbrushes or razors to be safe.

While it doesn't spread through casual saliva contact, maintaining good hygiene during meals is always good. Stick to clean, separate utensils if someone has active infections.
