Can heavy lifting cause kidney stones to move?

My doctor recently found a small kidney stone. I love hitting the gym and doing heavy lifting, but now I'm worried if all that exertion could make the stone move around and cause more problems.

Beta, heavy lifting puts a lot of pressure on your lower back and stomach, which can definitely make a kidney stone shift. In our times, we were always told to avoid heavy physical work during such pain, and drink plenty of warm barley water or coconut water to help the stone pass gently. Take care and don't strain.

Oh, absolutely! It's like a mini earthquake inside your body when you lift heavy, and that stubborn little stone decides it's time to travel. Just don't go trying to be Baahubali at the gym when you know you have a stone, or it might give you a very painful surprise!

Yes, from my experience of dealing with kidney stones years ago, any sudden heavy strain or lifting can cause the stone to shift and start hurting. But don't worry too much, once it moves, drinking lots of water will eventually help it wash out. Just avoid lifting heavy buckets or bags for now.

Yes, physical strain like lifting can cause stones to shift in the urinary tract. Since I have thyroid issues, I am always very careful about my metabolic health and get my regular checkups. If you have recurring kidney stones, it's best to follow up with your doctor for proper tests to find the root cause.

Honestly, yes. I tried moving a heavy cooler yesterday and now my lower back is screaming because my kidney stone decided to relocate. I've been up all night drinking gallons of water and running to the bathroom. Just don't lift anything heavy, trust me, it's not worth the sleepless night.

Heavy lifting definitely increases intra-abdominal pressure, which can force a kidney stone to migrate. If your doctor allows, skip the heavy squats and deadlifts for now and stick to brisk walking, which is actually great for helping a small stone pass naturally without too much pain.

Yes, the pressure on your abdomen during heavy lifting can push the stone down. A simple, practical tip is to stop lifting anything heavy, drink 3-4 liters of water daily, and use a warm heating pad on your back if it starts to ache. It usually passes on its own if it's small.

It can definitely make it move due to the abdominal pressure. Along with avoiding heavy lifting, make sure you strictly avoid high-oxalate foods like spinach and tomatoes for a while, and drink plenty of fresh lemon water. This helps prevent the stone from growing while it's moving.

Haan, bilkul move kar sakta hai. Jab aap heavy weight uthate ho toh pet pe zor padta hai na, toh pathri apni jagah se khisak jati hai. Isliye thoda parhez karo aur heavy saman uthana band kar do jab tak pathri nikal na jaye.

Yes, physically straining the body can cause the stone to shift. Just stay calm, keep a positive mindset, and drink plenty of water to help your body heal naturally. Trust the process and take gentle care of yourself.

Yes, heavy lifting can make it move. Since I have high blood pressure, I always avoid lifting heavy weights as it spikes my BP, and I get regular lifestyle checkups. If you have severe pain or blood in urine when the stone moves, please consult a doctor immediately.

I was actually researching this because my dad got sharp back pain right after lifting a heavy suitcase. It seems the sudden physical exertion really can jostle kidney stones out of their quiet spot. It's crazy how a physical movement can trigger that pain so fast!
