Can heat cause eczema?

I never had eczema before, but this summer, my skin has become very itchy, red, and inflamed. Is it possible for the intense heat to actually cause eczema to appear?

I never had skin issues before, but last summer the intense dry heat triggered red, itchy eczema patches on my arms. Once I started taking cool showers and using a heavy fragrance-free moisturizer, it finally cleared up. It can definitely happen out of nowhere.

I completely panicked when my neck broke out in angry, itchy red patches during a heatwave, thinking it was some dangerous infection. My dermatologist reassured me that heat-induced eczema is extremely common. Just keep the skin dry and cool, and it will settle down.

As if the heat keeping me awake all night wasn't enough, now I have these itchy eczema spots to scratch as well. Sweat and summer heat are a terrible combination for skin. Try to stay in AC if you can, or at least keep a fan pointing directly at you.

The summer heat makes me sweat, which triggers my eczema, and eating spicy street food on hot days just adds fuel to the fire! I've had to swap my hot pakoras for chilled watermelon to keep my skin from itching. It really helps cool the body down.

Yes, extreme heat and sweat friction from workouts can trigger eczema flares. I switched to early morning indoor walks to avoid the peak heat and protect my skin from irritation. Definitely consult a dermatologist if the itching gets out of hand.
