Can heartburn cause arm pain?

Sometimes after eating, I get really bad heartburn, and then my left arm starts aching too. It's quite concerning. Can heartburn actually cause pain in the arm?

I know how terrifying it is when you feel chest discomfort that seems to spread to your arm, making you immediately fear the worst. While simple heartburn usually stays in the chest or throat, severe spasms can sometimes cause referred pain. Please get it checked by a doctor right away to ease your mind and stay safe.

After a massive plate of extra-spicy chole bhature, my chest burns like crazy, but it rarely travels to my arm. Heartburn usually stays in the chest area, so if you are feeling a dull ache spreading down your left arm, that is not typical for acidity. Please don't ignore it and get a quick medical checkup done.

Please do not try to convince yourself that arm pain coupled with chest discomfort is just a symptom of heartburn. While esophagus spasms can occasionally mimic other pains, arm pain is a classic sign of cardiac distress. Skip the online advice and go straight to an emergency room for an ECG.

Acid reflux typically causes a burning sensation in the chest and throat, but it does not cause radiating arm pain. Arm pain, especially when accompanied by chest tightness, pressure, or sweating, is a major red flag for a heart attack. Please seek immediate emergency medical care.

Look, simple acidity doesn't make your arm hurt. If you are experiencing chest burning along with pain or numbness in your arm, this is not something to ignore or treat with antacids at home. Go to the nearest clinic or hospital immediately and get your heart checked.

In my experience, when I had severe acid reflux, the burning remained in my chest and throat. When I felt pain radiating down my left arm, it was actually a warning sign of a cardiac blockage. Please don't make the mistake of assuming arm pain is from gas; go get an ECG done right now.
