Can heart attack last all day?

My neighbour had some chest pain yesterday that went on for a very long time, like almost the whole day. We were worried it might be a heart attack. Can a heart attack actually last for an entire day?

Please do not sit and search the internet if you or someone else has been having continuous chest discomfort all day. A heart attack is a severe medical emergency, and waiting around can lead to permanent heart damage or worse. Go to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately to get an ECG done.

I can share that when my uncle had a heart attack, his symptoms actually started as mild discomfort that lasted for several hours before becoming severe. We thought it was just acidity at first, which was a huge mistake. Based on that experience, I always tell people to get any persistent chest pain checked immediately.

A heart attack isn't like a slow day at the office that you can just pull through till evening! If you have had severe chest pain, shortness of breath, or sweating all day, please don't wait for a miracle. Get yourself to a hospital clinic right now and get it checked.

Look, if you have had crushing chest pain, sweating, or pain radiating to your arm for hours, that is a massive red flag. Do not assume it is just gas or acidity and wait for it to pass. Get to the nearest hospital immediately, as every minute matters in saving the heart muscle.

For people with diabetes, heart attacks can sometimes present as 'silent' or show up as vague discomfort that lasts for hours without severe pain. This is highly dangerous because we might ignore it. If you have persistent sweating, unexplained fatigue, or chest pressure, please visit a cardiologist immediately.

While simple home tips like drinking warm water or taking carom seeds can help with mild bloating, they will do nothing for a heart attack. If you have severe chest pain or breathing issues that have lasted for hours, please do not try any home remedies. Please go to a hospital emergency room immediately.

I know how terrifying it is to sit with chest pain and wonder what is happening, as my family went through a similar scary event. Symptoms of a heart attack can sometimes build up slowly or persist for hours. Please don't let anxiety keep you at home—getting to a doctor right away is the only way to feel safe.
