Can heart attack cause cardiac arrest?

My uncle passed away very suddenly after what seemed like a heart attack, but the doctor mentioned cardiac arrest. Can a heart attack actually cause a person to go into cardiac arrest?

I am just trying to understand this properly because my family has some history of heart issues. Is it true that a heart attack is basically a plumbing issue while cardiac arrest is an electrical issue, but one can trigger the other? I would really appreciate if someone could clarify how they link up.

Yes, a heart attack is one of the most common causes of cardiac arrest because the blocked blood flow can disrupt the heart's electrical system. A practical tip is to always keep the emergency contact numbers of the nearest cardiac hospitals saved on your phone. Acting fast during chest pain is what saves lives.

Yes, a heart attack can trigger a sudden cardiac arrest by disturbing the heart's regular rhythm. Since systemic health issues like thyroid can also stress the cardiovascular system, I always emphasize regular blood panels. Keep up with your doctor appointments to monitor your overall heart health.

Don't panic, but yes, a heart attack can indeed lead to cardiac arrest if the heart muscle gets severely damaged. If anyone around you ever complains of crushing chest pain, sweating, or difficulty breathing, don't wait. Take them straight to an emergency room immediately.

Yes, from what I've read during my own health research, a heart attack can lead to cardiac arrest, though they are technically different things. Since I manage PCOS, I try to be very careful about cardiovascular health. It's always best to have a doctor explain these risks based on your own health profile.

When I discussed this with my father's cardiologist, he explained that a heart attack is a circulation problem where an artery is blocked, which can then trigger cardiac arrest—an electrical malfunction where the heart suddenly stops beating. It is critical to recognize the early warning signs of a heart attack to prevent a cardiac arrest.
