Can hay fever cause sore throat?

My seasonal allergies usually give me a blocked nose and itchy eyes, but this year I also have a persistent sore throat. Is it possible for hay fever symptoms to include a sore throat as well, or is this a separate issue?

Yes, the post-nasal drip from hay fever can irritate your throat and make it sore. Since I have thyroid issues, I have to be very careful with chronic symptoms, so I always recommend getting a proper medical checkup if it persists for more than a few days.

Yes, hay fever definitely causes a sore throat due to post-nasal drip. Warm fluids will help soothe the irritation.

I face this every single pollen season. The mucus drips down the back of your throat, causing that annoying scratchy pain. Gargling with warm salt water twice a day and using a steam inhaler before sleeping is the best way to manage it.

Look, if it's just a scratchy throat from allergies, warm saline gargles will fix it in a couple of days. But if you have a high fever or severe pain while swallowing, don't wait around thinking it’s just hay fever. Go see a doctor.

I’ve been getting a very dry and scratchy throat every morning lately along with sneezing. Is this really hay fever, or could it be a normal viral infection? Does anyone know how to tell the difference?

Yes, allergies can cause a sore throat from continuous mouth breathing when your nose is blocked. If your doctor allows, try to keep up with light indoor cardio or walking to keep your immunity active, but avoid dusty outdoor tracks.

Allergies can definitely irritate your throat, especially if you breathe through your mouth while sleeping. Keep your hydration levels high, focus on vitamin-C rich foods, and avoid cold drinks until the irritation subsides.

Dude, totally! Every time the weather changes, my nose gets blocked and my throat feels like sandpaper. I just drink hot chai and use throat lozenges to get through my college lectures.

Yes, post-nasal drip is the primary cause of a sore throat in allergic rhinitis patients. While home remedies like steam and gargles offer temporary relief, consulting a specialist is the best course of action to identify the exact allergens.

I once ignored a sore throat thinking it was just my usual hay fever, but it turned into a severe secondary bacterial infection because I delayed treatment. Please be careful. If the pain doesn't go away in three days, go see a doctor.

My son gets this every year during the pollen season, and his throat gets very red and irritated. I always give him warm turmeric milk at night and keep a humidifier running in his room. It really helps soothe the throat naturally.
