Can hairspray cause dandruff?

I use hairspray almost every day to keep my hairstyle in place for work. Off late, my scalp has become really flaky and itchy, so I'm wondering if the hairspray could be the culprit for this sudden dandruff issue.

Yes bro, it definitely can. I used to spray a lot of hairspray for college events, and if I didn't wash it out that same night, my scalp would get super itchy and flaky. Just wash it off properly with a mild shampoo.

These modern sprays have very strong chemicals that make the hair hard and dry. In our town, we avoid these things as they damage the natural scalp health. If you must use it, wash it with a gentle shikakai shampoo soon.

I always worry that these styling products are damaging my scalp permanently. The chemicals in hairsprays can dry out your scalp and cause irritation, which looks like dandruff. Maybe try to minimize using it and see if your scalp heals.

Haan, chemical build-up se dry scalp aur dandruff toh ho hi jata hai na. Try to use it less and don't let it touch your scalp directly. Wash your hair nicely next day and you should be fine.

Did anyone else notice white, flaky stuff on their scalp after using styling spray? I am so scared that it's dandruff and that it won't go away easily. Please tell me if stopping the spray helped you guys.

My mother always says to avoid chemical sprays because they trap sweat and cause itching. I found that reducing hairspray usage resolved my flaky scalp issues. If your scalp is persistently peeling, it is best to consult a dermatologist.

In our days, we didn't have these setting sprays, but I have seen my children face scalp irritation from using them. It is usually just product buildup and not a major scalp disease. Just keep your scalp clean and avoid daily styling.
