Can hair grow out of skin cancer?

I have this suspicious looking mole on my arm, and I noticed a few hairs growing out of it. My friend said if hair grows out of a mole, it's usually benign. Does that apply to skin cancer too? Can hair grow from a skin cancer lesion?

Usually, hairs growing out of a mole indicates it is benign, but you can never be too sure. Please take your family member to a doctor for a proper skin checkup to be absolutely safe.

I am not a medical expert, but from what I've read while managing my own hormonal issues, benign moles can have hair, while cancerous ones usually lose it. It is always safest to get a dermatologist to look at any changing spot.

In my experience, spots with hair are usually just normal moles we get as we age. However, if the spot is changing shape or bleeding, don't wait and consult a doctor immediately.

Do not rely on internet theories about hair growth and moles. Any suspicious skin lesion needs to be biopsied or checked by an oncologist/dermatologist to be sure.
