Oh, now I am really scared because I have been drinking green tea daily. I read somewhere it has oxalates which can cause stones. Does anyone else here feel back pain or kidney issues after drinking green tea? Please share.
Actually yaar, green tea does have some oxalates, but it is way less than black tea. Unless you are drinking like 8 cups a day, it shouldn't cause kidney stones. Just drink plenty of water alongside and you will be absolutely fine.
I have had kidney stones twice in my life and I can tell you that drinking enough water is the most important thing. Green tea in moderation won't hurt you. Just don't drink it in excess and make sure you keep yourself well hydrated throughout the day.
I just started drinking green tea for my health and I'm a bit confused now. Is it really risky for the kidneys? Should I limit myself to just one cup a day to be safe, or is it completely fine?
I see this question a lot here! Don't worry too much. Normal green tea in moderation is very healthy. If you have a history of calcium oxalate stones, just limit your intake to one cup and talk to your doctor about your diet.
It is highly unlikely that normal green tea will cause kidney stones if you drink it in moderation. Just make sure to drink plenty of plain water every day to keep your kidneys clean and healthy.

My doctor explained that green tea contains moderate levels of oxalates, which can bind with calcium and form stones in people who are prone to them. However, for a healthy individual, 1-2 cups a day is perfectly fine. Just don't drink concentrated extracts and maintain good fluid intake.
At my age, everything seems to cause some health issue if you read too much online! Green tea is fine as long as you aren't treating it like water. Just have your regular cup, drink water, and don't lose sleep over kidney stones.
