Can gerd mimic heart attack?

I've been getting chest pain that my doctor says is due to GERD. But the pain is so strong sometimes that I get scared. Is it true that GERD symptoms can actually mimic a heart attack?

Yes child, the burning sensation from wind and acid can rise up and feel like a heavy weight on the chest, making you think it is a heart issue. In our home, we drink a little fennel water (saunf) to calm the stomach. But if there is heavy sweating, please go straight to a doctor.

Oh absolutely, GERD is the king of dramatic entrances! It makes you feel like you are meeting the almighty over a plate of samosas. If a good old burp solves your 'heart attack', you can thank the stomach gas for the free heart scare.

Do not let fear consume your heart, as anxiety only worsens the acidity in the body. Sit quietly, take slow breaths, and understand that our nerves can sometimes confuse acid burn for heart pain. Bless you, and do seek a doctor's reassurance.

I went through this exact scare last year and it was so terrifying. The tightness in my chest felt so real, but it was just severe reflux irritating my chest nerves. Sleeping slightly elevated and avoiding heavy dinners helped me stop these scary episodes.

Haan bhai, mere saath bhi aisa hua tha. Chhati mein bohot tez jalan aur dard hone laga, hum toh darr hi gaye the. Par doctor babu ne bola yeh bas pet ki gas ka kamaal hai. Aap bilkul darna mat, par ek baar hospital dikha lena accha hota hai.

Yes, they feel very similar. Getting an ECG done once will give you peace of mind and help you focus on treating the acidity.
