Can gerd cause shoulder pain?

My shoulder has been hurting a lot lately, sometimes radiating from my chest area. I also have GERD, so I'm wondering if there's a link. Can GERD cause shoulder pain?

Honestly, when I overeat butter chicken late at night, the acidity kicks in so bad. The gas pressure literally travels up to my left shoulder and makes it ache like crazy. I had to cut down on my heavy midnight cravings because of this annoying pain.

Please don't ignore this thinking it is just simple gas. I kept stretching my shoulder thinking it was a muscle pull, but it was actually severe acid reflux and nerve irritation. Please get a proper checkup done before it gets worse like it did for me.

Yeah, it actually can happen because of the vagus nerve getting irritated by acid. I used to feel it during my heavy lifts, but fixing my posture and keeping a 3-hour gap between dinner and sleep really helped reduce the reflux and the shoulder ache.

Before you spend thousands on expensive shoulder scans or orthopaedic visits, check your acidity first. Getting a basic consultation with a general physician is way cheaper and they can tell if a simple antacid can fix this shoulder discomfort.

Do not stress too much, dear, stress only increases the acid in our body. Take deep breaths and drink some warm water when it hurts. Just keep a positive mind and consult a doctor to ease your worries.

Actually yaar, this is very common. Mere saath bhi hota hai jab bohot spicy misal pav kha leta hoon. The reflux triggers some nerve and the pain shoots right into the shoulder. Just take a mild antacid and see if it goes away, otherwise doc ko dikha lo.

I went to a specialist at Max Hospital for this exact issue last month. The doctor clearly explained how acid can irritate the diaphragm and cause referred pain in the shoulder. You should definitely book an appointment and ask your doctor directly to be safe.
