Can gerd cause left arm pain?

Recently, along with my usual GERD discomfort, I've started feeling a dull ache in my left arm. I'm worried because it's on the left side. Can GERD actually cause pain in the left arm?

My gastroenterologist explained that severe GERD can cause esophageal spasms which trigger referred pain radiating to the left shoulder and arm. However, because left arm pain is a classic symptom of a heart attack, you must go to an emergency room immediately to rule out cardiac issues first.

Do not ignore left arm pain thinking it is just acidity to save money. You can get a quick, low-cost ECG done at any government hospital or local lab. It is always better to spend a small amount on basic tests now rather than risking a major medical emergency later.

Eating very spicy or heavy meals can trigger intense acid reflux that sometimes radiates as a dull ache in the left side. While eating a light, fiber-rich vegetarian diet helps control GERD, left arm pain is too risky to treat at home. Please see a doctor immediately.

Beta, drinking warm water with a little fennel or chewing ginger can ease mild stomach gas. But left arm pain is a serious matter and cannot be cured by home remedies. Please go to a hospital immediately and let a doctor examine you.
