Can gerd cause abdominal pain?

I've been diagnosed with GERD and mostly experience heartburn and chest discomfort. However, sometimes I also get this dull ache in my upper abdomen, below my ribs. I'm not sure if it's related. Can GERD also cause general abdominal pain?

Yes, GERD can cause discomfort and burning pain in the upper abdomen area because of the stomach acid. I had similar issues and went to Apollo Hospital where the doctor clearly explained how acid reflux irritates the stomach lining. You must get it checked by a doctor to confirm.

Actually, heavy core workouts right after eating or a bad diet can trigger GERD and cause sharp pain in the upper abs. I had to tweak my meal timings and stop lying down immediately after eating. Try eating smaller portions and keeping a gap of 2 hours before exercising.

Mujhe bhi pet ke upri hisse me bahut dard hota hai jab acidity hoti hai. Kya yeh sach me GERD ki wajah se hota hai ya phir koi aur badi problem ho sakti hai? Agar aap me se kisi ko aesa experience hai to please mujhe bhi thoda batana.

It is honestly so frustrating when that constant abdominal pain and burning just won't leave you alone, no matter what you eat. People think it's just normal gas, but only the person suffering knows how exhausting and painful it actually is. Stay strong, you're not alone in this.

I was just reading about this on a few medical forums yesterday, and yes, GERD can cause upper abdominal pain because of the constant acid irritation. It's crazy how acid reflux can feel like a stomach ache. Have you noticed if it gets worse after eating spicy food?

Please don't ignore upper abdominal pain thinking it is just simple GERD. I ignored mine for months and ended up with severe ulcers and gastritis which required a long hospital treatment. It is always safer to see a doctor and get an endoscopy done if they suggest it.

In our family, my mother always tells us to drink warm cumin water or buttermilk for upper belly pain. It gives nice relief, but if your GERD is chronic and the pain is severe, you must visit a doctor. Natural remedies are good for mild support, but medical diagnosis is very important.
