Can gatorade give you kidney stones?

I play a lot of cricket and always keep Gatorade handy for hydration. My dad was reading something online and told me to cut back because it might cause kidney stones. Can Gatorade really give you kidney stones, or is it just a myth?

Drinking Gatorade in moderation won't directly cause stones, but it is high in sodium. Excessive sodium intake increases the calcium levels in your urine, which can lead to kidney stones over time. It's best to stick to regular water for daily hydration and save sports drinks for intense workouts.

Yes, if you drink it too often, the high sodium content can definitely increase your risk of kidney stones. Better to stick to normal water.

If you are drinking it without doing intense workouts, the extra sodium and sugar might strain your kidneys and contribute to stone formation. I always recommend plain water and active walking to keep the body healthy. Speak to a doctor if you are experiencing any back or side pain.

I track my daily sodium and water intake, and sports drinks like Gatorade can easily push you over your daily sodium limit if you aren't sweating heavily. High sodium is a known factor for kidney stones. Try logging your fluids and prioritize plain water instead.

Hey, don't worry too much. An occasional bottle of Gatorade won't immediately give you kidney stones. Just don't make it your main drink; stick to plain water and coconut water to keep things balanced. If you ever feel severe side pain, let's get it checked by a doctor right away.
