Can gas pain be severe?

Sometimes I get such intense abdominal cramps and sharp pains that I can barely move, and it feels like something really serious. The doctor just says it's gas, but I wonder. Can gas pain actually be that severe, almost debilitating?

Haan, it can feel like someone is poking you with a knife from inside. I usually drink hot fennel seed tea or use a warm compress on my belly, which gives fast relief. But please listen to your body; if the pain is unbearable or you have a fever, rush to a doctor immediately.

Honestly, don't rely on online forums when the pain is severe. Trapped gas can hurt badly, but appendix pain or gallstones also feel very similar and are dangerous. Go to a hospital and get a scan done instead of guessing.

Hey, don't panic. Severe gas pain is actually very common and can happen if you ate something heavy or lay down too quickly after eating. Drink some warm water, walk slowly for ten minutes, and see if it eases. If it doesn't go down or feels worse, we will get it checked by a doc, cool?

Yes, high-fiber vegetarian foods like rajma or chole can cause severe gas if they aren't cooked properly with hing or jeera. I had to change my cooking habits to avoid those extreme cramps. However, if you are experiencing severe, localized pain, do check with a medical professional first.

With our crazy work hours and desk jobs, severe bloating is very common because we sit in one place all day. Try taking short walks every two hours and eat light meals during office hours. If the severe pain persists for more than a day, take a sick leave and consult a doctor.

Oh God, yes! Last time it happened to me, I was convinced my appendix was bursting and was so close to calling an ambulance. It turned out to be just trapped gas, but the stress made it feel ten times worse. Just take deep breaths, try to lie on your left side, and if you are still scared, there is no harm in seeing a doctor for peace of mind.
