Can gas give back pain?

I've been suffering from chronic back pain for a while, and sometimes it seems worse when I'm feeling very gassy and bloated. My grandmother always said 'pet mein gas hai toh kamar dukhegi'. Is there actually a connection, and can gas really cause back pain?

Since I have thyroid issues, my digestion is very slow, which often leads to severe bloating and referred back pain. I've realized regular health tests and doctor follow-ups are so important to keep everything balanced. Do get a checkup done if it doesn't stop.

Yes, my gastroenterologist explained that trapped gas in the colon can put pressure on the nerves radiating to your lower and mid-back. He recommended avoiding sodas and eating smaller, frequent meals to prevent this buildup.

I have suffered from this back-stretching gas pain for years. Drinking warm ajwain water and using a hot water bag on my stomach and back is what always gives me relief. Give it a try, it is very practical and works well.

I always panic and think my kidneys are failing whenever I get back pain, but it's usually just trapped gas. Try to stay calm and drink some warm ginger water. Let's hope it's just a temporary gastric issue for you too!

Trapped gas can indeed cause back pain, but let's be realistic. If the pain is severe or constant, it could be a spinal issue or kidney stones. Skip the home remedies if it doesn't improve in a day and see a doctor.

Yes, gas can cause a dull ache in your back. Instead of taking pain killers, try drinking warm water with black salt first. If it is just gastric pressure, the pain will fade away as soon as the gas is released.

Don't spend a lot on expensive back massages or tests initially. If it's just gas, a simple 10-rupee antacid or warm water will solve it. But if the back pain persists for more than 3 days, then plan to visit a doctor for proper guidance.
