Can gas cause pain under right rib cage?

After a big meal last night, I've been feeling this constant dull ache right under my right rib cage. My friend said it might just be gas, but it's quite uncomfortable. Can gas actually cause pain in that specific area, or should I be concerned?

Honestly, yes! I had this exact same issue last month and freaked out thinking it was my liver or something. My doctor told me trapped gas can easily travel up and cause a very sharp ache right under the rib. Drinking warm water and walking around for 15 minutes really helped move things along.

Please be careful with this. I ignored a constant dull pain under my right ribs thinking it was just gastric pressure, but it turned out to be gallstones that got infected. If the pain is severe, radiates to your back, or if you feel nauseous, skip the home remedies and consult a doctor immediately.

I was actually reading up on this today because my mom has the same issue. Apparently, the colon bends right under your rib cage on that side, making it a very common spot for gas to get stuck. Quite fascinating but definitely painful when it happens!

Yes, absolutely. Trapped gas frequently causes a sharp or tight sensation right under the rib cage.

Oh God, I panicked so badly the first time I felt that sharp pinch on the right side. I actually ran to the clinic thinking it was some emergency. My doctor smiled and just gave me a basic antacid, saying it's extremely common when gas gets trapped in the colon's upper bends. Try to relax, it usually passes!

Yes, flatulence and bloating can push against your diaphragm and cause localized rib pain. I log my daily food and symptoms on my fitness app and realized that eating heavy meals too fast always triggers this specific right-side pressure. Try tracking your diet for a week to spot the patterns!
