Can flonase help asthma?

I have mild asthma, and my doctor usually prescribes an inhaler for it. My friend, who has allergies, uses Flonase, and he said it helps him breathe better. Can Flonase nasal spray also help with asthma symptoms?

My pulmonologist explained that Flonase is a nasal spray meant strictly for allergic rhinitis, not for asthma. While it can treat post-nasal drip which sometimes triggers asthma, it cannot be inhaled into the lungs to relieve asthma symptoms. For asthma, you require specific inhalers like rescue or controller medications prescribed by your doctor.

No, Flonase won't cure or help your asthma directly. It is a nasal spray for allergies, not an inhaler for your lungs. Don't try to use nasal sprays for breathing difficulties; you need a proper asthma inhaler prescribed by a physician.

Bro, Flonase is just for your nose, like for stuffiness and sneezing. If you have asthma, you need to use an actual inhaler that goes into your lungs, not a nose spray. Don't mix up the two, and definitely talk to a doctor to get the right inhaler.

It is so incredibly scary when you feel like you can't breathe properly, and you just want to find anything that works. Please know that Flonase is only for nasal allergies and won't help clear your lungs during an asthma issue. Please see a doctor to get the right inhaler so you can feel safe and breathe easy.

Flonase is meant only for clearing the nasal passages of dust and pollen. For strengthening the lungs and managing asthma, practicing gentle Pranayama daily can be very supportive alongside your regular treatment. Please consult your doctor for proper asthma medicines, as a nasal spray is not enough.

I know how hard it is to breathe during allergy season, and we want to try everything. But Flonase only helps with a blocked nose, it cannot reach your lungs to help with asthma. For wheezing, inhaling steam with a drop of eucalyptus oil can give mild comfort, but you must see a doctor for proper asthma inhalers.

I am always cautious about using medicines for things they aren't meant for. Flonase is basically designed to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages, not the airways in your chest. If you are struggling with asthma, it's really important to consult your doctor for a proper inhaler rather than relying on a nasal spray.
