Can flat feet cause back pain?

I've always had flat feet, and now I'm starting to get regular lower back pain. My physiotherapist suggested it might be related. Is it true that flat feet can cause back pain?

I can only share what happened to me. I had terrible lower back pain for over a year, and I never realized it was because of my flat feet until I started using custom arch supports. Now, the pain is almost gone, but your situation might be different so definitely consult a professional.

Our feet are the foundation of our physical temple, so any imbalance there naturally affects our entire alignment. Try to do some gentle stretching every morning and walk barefoot on natural grass if you can. Stay positive and take care of your body, it will heal beautifully.

I was just reading about this yesterday because my brother has flat feet and is always complaining about backaches. It seems without proper arches, your knees and hips don't align properly, which transfers all the shock to your lower back. Pretty interesting how everything is connected!

Actually, yes yaar! Flat feet disturb your whole body posture, which directly puts pressure on your lower back when you walk or stand for too long. I faced this same issue and changing my footwear made a huge difference. You should check out some good orthotic insoles.

Definitely. When you have flat feet, your ankles roll inward which messes up your kinetic chain and strains your lower back. Working on foot-strengthening exercises like towel curls and calf raises can help build support. Just keep your core strong and check with an ortho if it hurts too much.

My orthopedic doctor explained this clearly when I visited him for chronic lower back issues. He said flat feet cause 'overpronation,' meaning the feet roll inward, which rotates the leg bones and tilts the pelvis forward, straining the back muscles. He suggested wearing custom-molded insoles to correct the alignment.

Beta, the feet bear the weight of our whole body. If you have flat feet, try massaging the soles with warm mustard oil every night before sleeping to relieve the strain. Always wear comfortable, cushioned shoes rather than flat slippers, and consult a doctor if the backache continues.
