Can fibromyalgia cause fever?

Since my fibromyalgia diagnosis, I've been feeling slightly feverish quite often, though my temperature isn't usually very high. My friend suggested it might be related to my condition. Can fibromyalgia cause low-grade fever?

Fibromyalgia generally does not cause a true, high-grade fever. Just like how I have to monitor my sugar levels carefully, you should track your temperature with a thermometer. If you actually have a high fever, it might be a viral infection or something else, so get it checked.

During my recent fibro flare-up, I felt extremely hot and flushed, like I had a fever, but when I actually checked with a thermometer, my temperature was normal. It is more like a feeling of heat or temperature dysregulation. If you have an actual fever, it is likely a regular bug.

Fibro can make you feel super hot and sweaty sometimes, but a real fever is usually caused by an infection. Keep drinking plenty of water and rest up! Sending you warm wishes to feel better soon.

Please don't assume a real fever is just part of your fibromyalgia. I once ignored a running fever thinking it was just my usual chronic fatigue, and ended up with a severe kidney infection that landed me in the hospital. Get it checked by a doctor to be safe.

Fibromyalgia can sometimes make your body feel overheated or feverish during a bad flare, but it doesn't typically cause a real medical fever. Please monitor your temperature and stay well hydrated. Take care of yourself.
