Can fever cause hypertension?

During a recent viral fever, my blood pressure reading was a bit high, which is unusual for me as I normally have stable BP. I'm curious, does having a fever temporarily increase blood pressure, or should I be concerned?

Yes, when your body is fighting a fever, your heart beats faster and stress hormones are released, which can temporarily push your blood pressure up. Once the fever comes down with medicine, the BP usually goes back to normal. Just make sure to monitor it closely.

I totally get it, seeing your blood pressure shoot up when you are already sick and shivering is very scary. The physical stress of a fever naturally raises BP temporarily. Just rest up, take your fever meds, and try to stay calm.

Fever actually puts a lot of stress on the body, yaar. Your heart rate goes up and that can temporarily spike your BP. Don't panic, just take rest and check your BP again once the fever is gone.

As a long-time high BP patient, I know that any illness or fever can throw your readings off balance. It's a temporary reaction to stress, but if you already have hypertension, you must consult your doctor. Keep tracking your readings morning and evening.

When you have a fever, your metabolic rate spikes, causing a temporary rise in BP. Obviously, don't do any workouts or walking right now. Just rest completely, and once you recover fully and your doctor clears you, you can get back to light exercise.
