Can enlarged prostate lead to prostate cancer?

My doctor told me I have an enlarged prostate, and my friend was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, making me very anxious. Does having an enlarged prostate mean I'm more likely to get prostate cancer?

I go to a reputable multi-specialty hospital for my checks, and my urologist explained that BPH (enlarged prostate) and cancer are two completely different things. However, you should ask your doctor clearly to run a PSA blood test to be absolutely sure.

Look, simple enlargement does not mean it is cancer. Both are different issues, but since symptoms are similar, you must go to a doctor and get it checked. Don't sit at home thinking it will fix itself.

Take a deep breath. Having an enlarged prostate is very common as we age and it rarely turns into cancer. Just make sure to get your annual checkups done so you have complete peace of mind.

My doctor told me my prostate is enlarged and I have been sleepless thinking about cancer. Has anyone else here had high PSA levels but it turned out to be just normal swelling?

As someone who has been helping people on health forums for years, I can tell you BPH is benign. However, always verify with a PSA test and a physical exam. Stay active, drink enough water during the day, and relax.
