Can enlarged liver go back to normal?

My doctor told me I have an enlarged liver after my last check-up, and I'm trying to make lifestyle changes. I'm worried about my health. Is there a chance that an enlarged liver can actually return to its normal size?

Don't panic, the liver is actually one of the few organs that can regenerate and heal itself beautifully. Just cut out the alcohol, heavy fried foods, and follow whatever your doctor has prescribed. Give it some time and care.

My grandmother always recommended drinking buttermilk and avoiding oil, but my doctor was very clear that we must find the underlying cause first. Once the fatty liver or infection is treated, the liver usually shrinks back to its normal size.

Having warm water with lemon in the morning and eating simple home-cooked food helps the liver a lot. However, if you have yellowing of eyes, severe pain, or vomiting, do not wait and go straight to a hospital.

It depends entirely on what caused the enlargement in the first place. You must get blood tests and an ultrasound done through a proper doctor to know for sure instead of trying to guess.

Yes, it definitely can! Mine was enlarged due to Grade 2 fatty liver last year. I lost about 8 kgs, stopped eating sugar, and my recent ultrasound showed a perfectly normal sized liver.
