Can endoscopy detect liver cirrhosis?

My brother has been drinking heavily for many years and now has some liver issues. He is scheduled for an endoscopy soon. I wanted to know if this procedure can also detect something serious like liver cirrhosis.

I was looking up liver stuff recently because of my dad's reports and got so anxious. From what I read, an endoscopy checks for esophageal varices which happen due to high pressure from liver cirrhosis. It's scary to think about, but the test is super helpful for doctors to prevent bleeding. Sending you lots of strength!

Hey, so endoscopy doesn't look at the liver directly, but it can show the damage cirrhosis causes in your food pipe, like swollen veins. My roommate's dad had to get one for his liver issues. It's actually a pretty standard check when things get serious.

Well, the scope doesn't have GPS to go inside the liver itself, but it definitely checks the neighborhood! It looks for swollen blood vessels in the food pipe caused by liver backup. Don't worry, the doctors know exactly which plumbing lines to check.

Man, I’ve been up since 4 AM with my baby and my brain is fried, but I remember my doctor telling me this. Endoscopy checks for the complications of cirrhosis, like bleeding veins, not the liver itself. If your doc recommended it, just go sleep-deprived like me and get it done, it's safer.

Yes, that is true, it mostly checks for swollen veins in your food pipe caused by liver pressure. It's a very important test to prevent internal bleeding, so please do not skip it.

While an endoscopy cannot directly visualize liver tissue to diagnose cirrhosis, it is a crucial tool for detecting portal hypertension complications like esophageal varices. For an actual diagnosis of cirrhosis, doctors rely on ultrasound, fibroscan, or blood tests. Please follow your gastroenterologist's specific diagnostic plan.

Actually yaar, endoscopy liver bypass check ke liye direct tool nahi hai, but if there's cirrhosis, it causes swelling in food pipe veins called varices. Mera flatmate was facing some liver issues and doc made him get an endoscopy to check for this bleeding risk. Tension mat lo, just consult your specialist once.
