Can emergency room do anything for tooth pain?

I have this terrible toothache right now and it's late at night, so my dentist's clinic is closed. I'm in so much pain, I'm thinking of going to the emergency room. Can they actually do something for severe tooth pain in an ER, or is it only for very serious emergencies?

Honestly, they don't do much dental stuff there. I went to the ER at 2 AM once for a crazy wisdom tooth ache and they just gave me basic painkillers and told me to see a dentist in the morning. Better to find a 24-hour dental clinic if you can.

For mild tooth pain, pressing a clove near the tooth or doing a warm saltwater gargle can give some temporary relief at home. However, if your face is swollen, you have a high fever, or the pain is unbearable, please go to the hospital emergency room immediately.

Look, the ER is for life-threatening emergencies, not root canals. They will only give you temporary pain relief or antibiotics if there is swelling. Don't waste time expecting a full cure there, just get an appointment with a dentist ASAP.

Hey, if the pain is too severe to tolerate, please go to the nearest ER. They won't pull the tooth out, but they can give you a strong painkiller injection or antibiotics to control any infection until you can visit a proper dentist tomorrow. Don't worry, you'll get some relief.

Oh god, tooth pain is the absolute worst, it makes you feel so helpless! I was terrified my tooth infection would spread to my brain once, but the ER doctor was very sweet. They can at least prescribe something to keep the pain under control so you can sleep.

Yes, the ER can give you immediate pain relief and antibiotics for swelling, but you will still need a dentist for the actual treatment.

Since I have diabetes, I have to be very careful with dental infections as they can spike blood sugar levels quickly. If you have a severe tooth infection, the ER can help control it with antibiotics. Please don't ignore it, and check your sugars.

I always go to a reputed multi-specialty hospital for emergencies. Their ER can immediately consult their on-call dental department if the situation is severe. Ask the duty doctor clearly what temporary measures they are taking before you leave.

My tooth is hurting really badly right now and I am a bit scared. If I go to the emergency room, will they have an actual dentist there to look at it, or do they only give medicines?

Severe tooth pain can actually shoot up your blood pressure, which is what happened to me once. The ER is good for getting that immediate relief to calm your system down. Just make sure to get regular dental checkups so it doesn't reach this point.
