Can elevated liver enzymes cause itching?

For the past few weeks, I've been experiencing a lot of unexplained itching all over my body, especially at night. My recent blood work showed elevated liver enzymes. Is there a connection, and can high liver enzymes actually be the cause of this persistent itching?

Haan, bilkul ho sakti hai itching! Actually, when the liver is struggling, bile salts can build up under the skin and cause crazy itching, na. Don't scratch too much, and please show it to a doctor soon.

As a diabetic, I have to be very careful with skin itching as it can mean nerve issues or liver stress. High enzymes sometimes indicate a fatty liver which can trigger these symptoms. Please consult your physician and get your HbA1c and liver panel checked.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Itching can happen when liver enzymes are high, but it's super common and treatable. Just make sure you call your doctor and get a simple checkup done to ease your mind.

I panicked so badly when my palms and feet started itching like crazy and my LFT was high. I thought my liver was failing, but it turned out to be a very temporary reaction to a medication I took. It went back to normal soon, so try not to scare yourself!

Yes, pruritus or itching is a well-documented symptom of liver dysfunction. Since this happens due to bile acid buildup, standard skin creams won't help much. It is best to consult a hepatologist or gastroenterologist for targeted treatment.

It definitely can happen due to bile accumulation. If your doctor permits, try to keep up with light walking to improve blood circulation, and stick to clean eating. It really helps your body flush out toxins naturally.

I have been having this annoying itching on my arms for two weeks and just got my liver reports with high enzymes today. Is anyone else going through this same thing? It is making me so nervous, should I see a specialist immediately?
