Can eczema start at any age?

My aunt, who is almost 65, recently developed some very itchy dry patches which her doctor said might be eczema. I always thought it was a childhood condition. Can eczema really start at any point in life, even for older adults?

Absolutely, eczema can develop at any stage of life. While it is very common in infants, adult-onset eczema is also quite frequent due to stress, weather changes, or sudden allergies. Keeping a gentle moisturizer handy is always a good starting point.

Yes! I never had any skin issues growing up, but suddenly at 27, I got these itchy patches on my elbows. My doctor told me it's quite common for adult-onset eczema to trigger out of nowhere. Finding the right moisturizer changed everything for me.

Honestly, I was so shocked when I got diagnosed at 24 because I thought only kids got this. Did anyone else here suddenly develop bad skin allergies in their twenties? It makes me so anxious wondering what triggered it.

Yes, my sister got it in her late 40s. We tried so many things, but what really helped was applying pure virgin coconut oil right after a bath on damp skin. It really calms the itching down naturally, no matter your age.

It can be so confusing and stressful when your skin suddenly changes out of the blue. But yes, eczema can start at any age, even in older adults. Please don't worry, once you find the right routine with your doctor, it gets much easier to manage.

Yes, it can start anytime. When I got it in my late twenties, I noticed my skin flared up more when my gut health was off. Drinking plenty of water and eating clean, anti-inflammatory foods definitely helped me keep the flare-ups under control.

Medically, while most cases present in early childhood, adult-onset eczema is a well-documented condition. Triggers can range from environmental pollutants to hormonal shifts. I'd highly recommend consulting a dermatologist to pinpoint your exact triggers.
