Can eczema spread to others?

My new roommate has eczema on her arms, and sometimes she leaves her clothes around. I'm not sure if I need to take extra precautions, honestly. Is eczema something that can spread to others if you share a living space or come into contact with their skin?

Don't worry, eczema absolutely does not spread from person to person. I've had it for years and my family is totally fine. I usually apply fresh aloe vera gel or pure coconut oil to soothe the dry patches, but please make sure you don't scratch it.

I totally get it, the constant itching and red patches can be so embarrassing and scary. But honestly, it's just your own skin barrier acting up. It cannot spread to anyone else, so don't let it stress you out.

Honestly, I used to panic so much thinking I would pass it to my roommate. Even though doctors say it's not contagious, do you guys also feel super conscious of touching people when you have a flare-up? It is just so stressful.

Listen to me, take a deep breath. Eczema is not contagious at all, so you can't pass it to anyone else. Just focus on keeping your skin moisturized and avoid harsh soaps. Let me know if you need help finding a good doctor nearby.

No, it is not contagious. However, sometimes other fungal skin infections can look exactly like eczema. Just to be absolutely safe, please visit a skin specialist so they can properly diagnose what it is.

Arre nahi baba, it is not like flu that everyone in the house will get it. Only my bank account suffers from buying all these expensive moisturizers. Keep your skin hydrated and stop worrying so much.

Eczema itself doesn't spread, but please be very careful. Once I scratched my patches too much and got a bad bacterial infection which actually did spread to another spot on my body. It is always better to get a proper cream prescribed by a dermatologist before it gets worse.

I totally understand why you are asking this, health stuff can make us so anxious. Rest assured, eczema is just an internal skin reaction, not an infection, so it won't spread to your loved ones. You are completely safe to hug your family.

Haan bilkul safe ho aap, eczema koi infection nahi hai jo doosron ko ho jaye. Mere bhai ko bhi hai par hume kabhi nahi hua na. Bas thoda cold weather me dhyan rakhna padta hai skin ka.

Scientifically speaking, eczema is an autoimmune response of the skin and is non-communicable. But since skin conditions can be tricky to self-diagnose, a quick visit to a dermatologist is always the best way to get the right treatment plan.
