Can eczema spread by scratching?

I have a small area of eczema on my hand, and sometimes I just can't stop scratching it, especially at night. My mom keeps telling me not to scratch because it will spread. Can scratching actually make eczema spread to other areas of the skin?

Haan na, khujli karne se eczema aur badh jata hai. Actually it is not a virus that spreads, but scratching triggers more redness and irritates the healthy skin nearby. Dr. ne kaha tha khujli karne ke badle ice pack lagao.

I know how incredibly frustrating that endless itch is, it literally drives you crazy. But scratching really does make it spread to surrounding areas by breaking the skin barrier and causing more inflammation. Please stay strong, it gets better.

I used to panic thinking I was spreading it everywhere by scratching in my sleep. While it doesn't spread like an infection, scratching definitely irritates the skin and makes the patches larger. Just keeping my nails cut short solved half my worry.

Khujlane se toh bimari aur badhti hai babu. Jitna nakhun lagaoge, utna hi wo lal hoga aur doosri jagah bhi phailega. Aap uspe thoda thanda paani lagaiye par khujli mat kariye.

Yes, scratching releases chemicals in the skin that make it itch even more and spread the rash. I suggest applying some cool sandalwood paste to calm the itch naturally. But if it is spreading too fast, please visit a doctor.
