Can eczema cause vitiligo?

My mother has vitiligo, and I have eczema. Lately, I've noticed some small, lighter patches appearing on my skin, which is making me quite worried. Is there any link between the two? Can eczema cause vitiligo to develop?

No, eczema does not cause vitiligo. Eczema is an inflammatory skin reaction, while vitiligo is an autoimmune condition where the skin loses its pigment. They are two totally different things, though you can have both if you are prone to skin issues.

Beta, bilkul mat darna. Eczema se vitiligo nahi hota hai. Eczema mein bas thodi soojan se skin thodi safed ya kaali pad jati hai thode din ke liye, par woh vitiligo nahi hai. Woh dheere dheere apne aap theek ho jayegi.

I have to be very careful with my diet because of my diabetes and skin issues. While eczema and vitiligo can both be related to immune responses, eczema itself doesn't cause vitiligo. Focus on eating balanced, low-sugar meals to keep your skin inflammation down.

They are clinically distinct conditions, so eczema will not develop into vitiligo. When eczema heals, it can leave behind temporary light patches called hypopigmentation, which people often mistake for vitiligo. A quick visit to a dermatologist will easily clarify this for you.

I once ignored some weird light spots on my skin thinking it was just my dry eczema healing, but it turned out to be something else that required early treatment. Don't guess or wait around like I did. Go get a proper diagnosis from a skin specialist.

No, eczema cannot cause vitiligo as their basic mechanisms are quite different. However, keeping a clean, nutrient-rich vegetarian diet helps overall skin health and reduces eczema inflammation. Do consult your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis of any light patches.
