Can eating too much spinach cause kidney stones?

I recently started including a lot of spinach in my diet for its health benefits. However, my colleague warned me that eating too much can cause kidney stones. Is this something I should be careful about?

I love drinking green smoothies in the morning but I am terrified of getting kidney stones because of the oxalate content in spinach. Has anyone else felt anxious about this or experienced side pain after eating it regularly?

My grandmother always said to blanch spinach in boiling water first and discard the water before cooking. It helps reduce the harmful elements. Also, drinking plenty of warm water throughout the day keeps our kidneys clean.

In our family, we are advised to eat spinach in moderation, maybe once or twice a week. However, my doctor clearly told me that if you have a history of calcium oxalate stones, you should limit spinach strictly and always consult an urologist.

I used to eat palak paneer almost every other day and ended up with a small kidney stone last year. After that, my doctor advised me to cut down on raw spinach. Since reducing it, I haven't had any recurring issues.

Oh wow, I didn't know palak could do this! I love my creamy palak corn and paneer dishes too much to stop. I guess eating it once a week in moderate portions is perfectly fine for foodies like us.

I literally just recovered from a kidney stone last month, and the doctor strictly blamed my heavy raw spinach green juice habit. Take my advice, don't overdo the healthy green juices. Moderation is extremely important.

Spinach is indeed very high in oxalates, which can bind with calcium and form stones in predisposed individuals. If you choose to eat spinach, pairing it with calcium-rich food can help absorb oxalates in the gut instead of the kidneys.

Sipping fresh coconut water or barley water is very good for flushing out toxins. But if you have sharp, unbearable back pain or difficulty urinating, don't try home remedies. Go straight to a proper hospital.

Wait, really? My gym trainer told me to eat raw spinach in my protein shakes daily. This kidney stone talk is scary, I think I will stick to normal dal and boiled veggies from now on.

I am trying to learn more about healthy eating. Is it only raw spinach that is risky for kidney stones, or does cooked spinach in curry also have the same effect on our body?
