Can eating too many tomatoes cause diarrhea vomiting?

Yesterday I made a dish that was very heavy on tomatoes, and later I felt quite sick, experiencing both diarrhea and vomiting. I'm wondering if consuming too many tomatoes in one go could have caused these digestive issues.

Beta, in our days we always said to avoid eating too many raw vegetables during the monsoon or hot weather. Tomatoes can easily cause food poisoning if they aren't washed properly. Just drink some warm mint tea and rest, you will be fine.

I had a tomato-heavy pasta last night and woke up feeling extremely sick and nauseous. Is this a common thing or could it be something worse? I'm quite worried now.

It sounds very uncomfortable. Yes, the high acid content can sometimes irritate your stomach. Please drink some coconut water and see a doctor if the vomiting doesn't stop.

Whenever someone in our house gets a stomach upset from eating outside or too much of one ingredient, we give them ORS water and light khichdi. Don't eat raw salads for a few days, and if it continues, go to the clinic.

With high blood pressure, sudden dehydration from vomiting can be risky. If you are having continuous diarrhea, check your BP and consult your doctor immediately instead of trying home remedies.

Be careful with electrolytes if you have diabetes, as some ORS packets have a lot of sugar. Consult your general physician for a safe hydration plan if you are experiencing severe diarrhea.

Haan bhai, tomatoes mein acid bohot hota hai toh pet kharab ho hi sakta hai na. Agar zyada vomiting ho rahi hai toh risk mat lo, local doctor se milkar koi achi medicine le aao.

I can only speak from my own experience. Raw tomatoes always give me severe acid reflux and loose motions if I eat too many of them in salads. Cooking them seems to make them much easier to digest.

Tomatoes contain high levels of solanine and acids which can trigger gut inflammation in some people. I track my food reactions on my app, and raw tomatoes definitely cause acidity for me. Try tracking what you eat to identify triggers.

Man, I love tomato salsa but too much of it definitely turns my stomach into a battlefield. It is probably just the high acidity playing up. Take a break from spicy food for a bit!

I didn't know tomatoes could cause this much trouble. Does this mean we should avoid eating them raw in salads completely, or is it only a problem if we eat them on an empty stomach?

Haan na, raw tomatoes can really upset the stomach if eaten too much. The seeds are also hard to digest sometimes. Just stick to light food for today and drink lots of water.
