Can eating too many tomatoes cause diarrhea nausea vomiting?

I really love tomatoes and sometimes add a lot of them to my salads or curries. One time, after eating a particularly large amount, I felt quite unwell with some diarrhea, nausea, and even vomiting. Could eating too many tomatoes cause these symptoms?

Any extreme food reaction can mess up your digestive system, especially if you have other metabolic issues. I always keep my doctor informed about sudden food allergies. If these symptoms persist, get standard blood tests and see a specialist.

I once ate a massive salad with lots of raw tomatoes and ended up with a bad stomach ache and diarrhea. Since then, I only eat them cooked and in small quantities, but that is just my personal experience.

Please rest well and sip some warm water. Yes, too many tomatoes can upset a sensitive stomach because of the acid. Take care and consult a doctor if you keep throwing up.

Tomatoes are highly acidic, so eating too many can definitely cause severe acidity, leading to nausea and diarrhea. If you have an important meeting or work travel, stick to bland food for a day or two and see a doctor if it doesn't settle.

Looks like you went a bit too wild with the tomato soup! Yes, the acid can cause a stomach rebellion. Just lay off the red sauce for a while and you should be back to normal soon.

Oh no, hope you are feeling better now. Yes, tomatoes have malic and citric acid which can irritate your stomach lining if eaten in huge amounts. Just have some curd rice and give your stomach a break!

Man, who even eats that many raw tomatoes to get sick? But honestly, raw veggies can have bacteria if not washed properly, which causes food poisoning. Drink ORS and stay near a washroom!
