Can eating high protein cause weight gain?

I've started hitting the gym regularly and increased my protein intake to build muscle. Some of my friends say eating too much protein can make you gain weight, not just muscle. Is it true that a high-protein diet can lead to unwanted weight gain?

Beta, if you eat a lot of protein but don't do any physical exercise, those extra calories will eventually lead to weight gain. Protein is great for muscles, but keep your daily intake balanced with your activity level. Simple home-cooked dal, paneer, and curd in moderate amounts are best.

High protein can cause weight gain if you are eating more total calories than your body needs, as excess protein still gets stored as fat. Try balancing it with fresh vegetables and warm water throughout the day. However, if you have sudden weight gain or kidney issues, please consult a doctor.

I log my meals daily on an app, and it clearly shows that even high protein will lead to weight gain if you exceed your daily maintenance calories. Protein has 4 calories per gram just like carbs, so keep tracking your overall daily intake to stay in your target zone.

I also tried a very high protein diet once and ended up gaining weight because I was eating too much heavy paneer and peanut butter. Now I keep it light with roasted chana and buttermilk, which works much better for my body.

Bhai, agar aap dinbhar baithe rahenge aur bohot zyada protein khayenge, toh vajan toh badhega hi. Protein pachaane ke liye thoda chalna-phirna aur mehnat karna zaroori hai. Ghar ki daal aur dahi khao, sab theek rahega.

High protein is essential for building muscle, but if you don't hit the gym or lift weights, those extra calories will just turn into fat. Pair your protein intake with a decent strength training routine and watch your portions.

I had the same experience when I started eating extra protein eggs and chicken without adjusting my regular carbs, and my weight went up. It is all about the total calorie balance at the end of the day, so try adjusting your portions.

Actually, protein is great for keeping you full, but if you are loading up on protein bars which have tons of hidden calories, you will gain weight yaar. Keep it simple and track your overall meals.

I worry about this constantly because I track every single gram of protein and get anxious when the scale goes up. But actually, excess protein can store as fat if we aren't careful with our overall daily calories. It is safe to check with a dietician to ease your mind.

Eating extra protein won't cause weight gain unless you are eating too many calories overall. Just eat balanced meals and take care of your health.

I panicked so much when I gained two kilos after starting a high-protein diet. But my trainer reassured me it was just muscle recovery and water weight, and eventually my body toned up. Just stick to your routine, it is completely normal!

Yes, if your total daily calories exceed what you burn, even high protein will cause weight gain.

In my younger days, we just ate simple home meals without obsessing over protein grams. If you overeat protein powders or heavy meats without hard physical labor, you will definitely put on weight. Just eat balanced traditional food and stay active, don't worry too much.

Don't stress about this. High protein only causes weight gain if you are eating way past your daily calorie limit. Just keep your portions in check, make sure you are active, and you will be completely safe, alright?
